Safeguarding

Pathways Education Project is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people we work with.

We believe that every young person has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported, and that safeguarding is a shared responsibility across all individuals and organisations involved in a young person’s life.

Our Commitment

Safeguarding is central to everything we do at Pathways.

We are committed to:

  • Creating safe, inclusive environments for young people

  • Acting in the best interests of the child at all times

  • Working in ways that promote trust, respect, and positive relationships

  • Taking all concerns seriously and responding appropriately

Our approach balances strong professional standards with relational, youth-centred practice.

How We Safeguard Young People

Pathways delivers mentoring, workshops, and programmes in schools and community settings. Safeguarding is embedded across all delivery.

We ensure that:

  • All staff and mentors are subject to enhanced DBS checks

  • All staff receive safeguarding and child protection training

  • Clear professional boundaries are maintained at all times

  • Safeguarding concerns are reported and managed promptly and appropriately

Support is delivered in line with recognised safeguarding guidance and local expectations.

Working in Partnership

Pathways works collaboratively with schools, families, local authorities, and partner organisations to support the wellbeing and safety of young people.

Where appropriate, we contribute to multi-agency discussions to support the early identification and prevention of harm, while respecting confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Credible Messengers and Safeguarding

Many Pathways programmes are delivered by credible messengers — trained practitioners who use lived experience responsibly to build trust and engagement.

Lived experience is used ethically and never in isolation. All credible messengers:

  • Work within clear safeguarding frameworks

  • Receive training and supervision

  • Operate within defined professional boundaries

This ensures that relationships are safe, appropriate, and focused on positive outcomes for young people.

Raising a Safeguarding Concern

If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person involved in a Pathways programme, we encourage you to raise this as soon as possible.

Safeguarding concerns can be reported by contacting us at:
info@pathwayseducationproject.com

If a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services without delay.
