Bridging the Gap Between Legal Theory and Reality

Legal Literacy Workshops - Helping Young People To Make Informed Choices
Most young people encounter the law for the first time when something has already gone wrong. By that point, the knowledge that might have protected them comes too late.
Legal Literacy workshops address that gap — giving young people a working understanding of the legal frameworks that are most relevant to their lives, before they need it. The sessions cover areas that are consistently misunderstood: joint enterprise and collective liability, stop and search rights, the consequences of knife crime, county lines, and the realities of prison life.
Pathways is a delivery partner in the Your Life You Choose (YLYC) project — an award-winning multi-agency programme delivering crime diversion workshops to Year 7 students across London, alongside inclusion officers, emergency services, legal professionals, and community organisations
Our workshops are delivered by credible messengers who bridge the gap between legal theory and the reality of how the law operates on a street corner, in a group chat, or in a courtroom. Young people leave with practical knowledge they can apply — not abstract principles they will forget.
