Empowering Young Futures with Credible Messengers

Who We Are

Pathways Education Project is a social enterprise based in London and Sussex.  Our work sits at the intersection of education, wellbeing, and early intervention, supporting schools, local authorities, and communities to engage young people — some of whom may be navigating social, emotional, or environmental challenges.

We deliver PSHE workshops, mentoring, and social and emotional learning (SEL) programmes to schools, local authorities, and communities, supporting young people to build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to make positive choices in education and beyond.

Why Pathways Exists

Many young people face barriers that aren’t always visible in the classroom — including instability at home, emotional distress, social pressure, or a lack of positive role models. Pathways was established to bridge that gap. We work in partnership with schools, local authorities, and community organisations to provide early, preventative support through life skills education, social and emotional learning (SEL), and credible messenger mentoring for young people facing social, emotional, or behavioural challenges.

We believe young people are more likely to engage when they feel understood, respected, and met where they are. Our approach prioritises relationships first, creating safe spaces where young people can reflect, grow, and develop practical strategies for change

Our Approach: Credible Messengers

What makes Pathways different is who delivers the work.  A core part of our approach is the use of

credible messengers — practitioners with lived experience of overcoming challenges similar to those faced by the young people they support.  This authenticity allows us to build trust quickly, engage meaningfully, and deliver guidance that genuinely resonates.

Why Our Approach Works

Young people engage best when they feel understood.

Credible messengers model positive behaviour, share relatable lived insight, and create safe spaces where young people feel heard, respected, and supported. This connection increases engagement, strengthens learning, and supports lasting behavioural change.

Mission

To empower young people to reach their full potential by building life skills, nurturing emotional wellbeing, and strengthening resilience, enabling students make positive choices that benefit themselves, their communities, and their futures.

Values

We are guided by a set of core values that shape everything we do — from how we engage with young people, to how we partner with schools and communities:

  • Respect – Every young person deserves to be heard, valued, and understood..

  • Integrity – We act ethically, transparently, and in the best interests of young people.

  • Inclusion – Our support is tailored, accessible, and non-judgemental.

  • Credibility – We build trust through lived experience and authenticity,.

  • Impact – We focus on meaningful, lasting change.

Why This Matters

At Pathways Education Project, our vision, mission and values are more than words — they guide everything we do. Every young person who walks through a school door, joins a mentoring programme, or participates in one of our PSHE workshops is supported to develop the life skills, emotional intelligence, and resilience they need to thrive.

By combining evidence-based SEL with credible messenger mentoring, multi-agency collaborations, and practical, real-world experiences, we help young people make safer, more informed decisions, build positive relationships, and engage confidently with education and their communities.  This approach addresses immediate challenges — such as school transitions or behavioural difficulties — while preparing young people for long-term success, creating ripple effects that strengthen families, schools, and local communities.
